A launched site is not a finished site
Going live is the start of a website's life, not the end. Like anything you rely on, it needs regular care to stay fast, secure and working - here's what quietly goes wrong when it doesn't.
Software ages
CMS cores, plugins and dependencies fall behind, and outdated software is the most common way sites get hacked.
Backups fail silently
The time to discover your backup was never running is not the day after a crash. Backups need to be tested, not assumed.
Speed decays
Unoptimized images and creeping bloat slow a site over time, and Core Web Vitals slip along with your rankings.
Small fixes pile up
A broken form, a dead link, an expired certificate - little issues stack up quietly until one of them costs you a customer.
Everything it takes to keep a site healthy
A care plan is not a vague promise to 'keep an eye on things'. It's a defined set of work on a fixed cadence - here's exactly what happens, and how often.
Every day & week
- Uptime monitoring with alerts if the site goes down
- Security scans for malware and vulnerabilities
- Scheduled offsite backups, ready to restore
- Anomaly and error checks
Every month
- Core, plugin, theme and dependency updates - tested in staging
- Performance and speed checks (Core Web Vitals)
- Broken-link, form and checkout checks
- Content edits and small changes
- A plain-English health report
Every quarter
- SSL and certificate verification
- A deeper security and dependency review
- A performance and image-optimization pass
- User, permission and access review
We maintain the site you have, on any stack
WordPress, Shopify, a headless CMS, a Next.js or React build, or a fully custom site - we are not a WordPress-only care shop. For stack-specific questions, see the technologies we work with.
What a care plan is not
Maintenance keeps your existing site healthy - it isn't a new site or a rebuild, more traffic and rankings, or new software or system features. Bigger content or feature changes are quoted separately, and we'll always tell you honestly which side of the line something falls on. One boundary is firm: these plans take backups of, and hold access to, ordinary websites, so we do not point them at a system that stores protected health information - that would make us a business associate under HIPAA. For healthcare builds we care for the non-PHI surfaces only, on the terms set out on our healthcare page. The same firm boundary holds for financial account data, cardholder data and any system that sits in the path money moves along - we don't point standard care plans at those either, and a fintech build is cared for on the terms set out on our fintech page. And it holds again for a real-estate build that stores tenant or applicant personal information or carries MLS listing data under a redistribution-limited licence, cared for on the terms set out on our real-estate page. And a fourth time for a travel build that stores traveller passport or personal data, sits in a booking-payments path, or carries GDS, channel or supplier data under a redistribution-limited agreement, cared for on the terms set out on our travel page. And a fifth time for an entertainment or media build that stores rights-licensed content under a redistribution-limited licence, holds user uploads and the moderation records behind them, or carries the viewing data the VPPA reaches - taking a routine offsite backup of any of those would put a copy of licensed content, user-uploaded material or viewing records on a system we run, cared for on the terms set out on our entertainment and media page.
Care that runs like clockwork
Maintenance should be boring - in the best way. We onboard once, then repeat the same reliable rhythm every month, and send you a report so you can always see it happening.
Onboard & audit

Update & test

Scan & back up
ongoingSecurity scans and verified backups on a fixed schedule, with alerts if something looks wrong.
Report

Support
one business dayYou reach the senior person who does the work, not a ticket queue - and we respond within one business day.
We can't show you a wall of client sites. We can show you ours.
We're a growing practice, so instead of borrowed uptime badges and testimonials, we'll show you the more honest signal - our own live site, kept exactly the way we'd keep yours, and inviting you to check it.
We run this site on the same care we'd sell you
intentioninfoservice.com is kept fast, patched, backed up and current - the discipline this page is about. Don't take our word for it. Check it yourself: run our site through Google's own tools, and see that it loads over HTTPS on current software. That is proof precisely because you don't have to trust a number we typed.
What lands in your inbox every month
Maintenance is invisible by nature, so we make it visible. Every month you get a plain, readable health report - not a wall of jargon:
Updates applied
Core, plugins and dependencies, with what changed
Security & backups
Scan results and a confirmed, restorable backup
Performance
A speed and Core Web Vitals snapshot
Anything to watch
Issues we spotted and what we recommend next
You own everything
Your site, hosting, domain, accounts and logins stay yours. We work inside your accounts - we never hold your site hostage.
Month-to-month, no lock-in
Care plans are month-to-month. Cancel anytime, keep everything. We earn the next month; we don't trap you into it.
We'll adopt a site we didn't build
Inherited a site or lost your original builder? We start with a one-time health audit, so we both know what we're taking on.
Senior people, direct
You reach the person who does the work, not a ticket queue - a registered company since 2016.
Updates tested first
Updates run in staging before they touch production, so an update never takes your live site down.
Response within one business day
An honest commitment we can keep: we respond within one business day, and tell you a realistic timeline up front.

Care done in the open
Premium agencies hide what's included behind a sales call. Cheap offshore shops go quiet the moment something breaks. Here's where transparent, senior-run care sits between them.
| Opaque premium agency | Cheap offshore shop | Intention InfoService | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What's included | Behind a sales call | Vague - 'we'll keep an eye on it' | Published and itemized, in the open |
| Pricing | High, quote-only | Cheap, but unclear | Published care plans, month-to-month |
| Updates | Yes | Automated and forgotten | Tested in staging, on a fixed schedule |
| You own site & accounts | Usually | Often held hostage | Always - full access stays yours |
| Who you reach | An account manager | A ticket queue, if that | The senior person doing the work |
| Any stack | Sometimes | Usually WordPress only | WordPress, Shopify, Next.js or custom |
| A site they didn't build | Rarely | Risky | Yes - after a health audit |
The short version: you can see exactly what you pay for, you own everything, you reach a real senior person, and you can leave whenever you like. Care worth staying for.
Website maintenance, answered
What is website maintenance?
Website maintenance is the ongoing work of keeping a live site healthy after launch - applying software updates, running security scans, taking backups, monitoring uptime and performance, fixing small issues, and making minor content changes. It's the difference between a site that quietly degrades and one that stays fast, secure and working.
What is included in a website maintenance plan?
Our care plans cover updates (core, plugins and dependencies, tested in staging), scheduled offsite backups, security monitoring and malware scans, uptime monitoring, performance checks, broken-link and form checks, a set amount of content edits, and a plain monthly health report. Higher plans add more frequent updates, performance optimization, more edit time and priority support.
What is the difference between website maintenance and web hosting?
Hosting keeps your site online - it's the server your site lives on. Maintenance keeps your site working, secure, updated and healthy on that server. Your host won't update your software, test your backups, fix a broken form or tell you when performance slips. Hosting is the address; maintenance is the upkeep.
Do I need a website maintenance plan?
If your site matters to your business, yes. Software left un-updated is the most common way sites get hacked, backups fail silently, and speed decays over time. A maintenance plan is low-cost insurance against a hacked, broken or slow site - and it saves you the time and stress of doing it yourself.
What happens if I don't maintain my website?
Over time, outdated software opens security holes, plugins break each other, forms and checkouts stop working, backups you never tested turn out to be missing, and speed drifts down along with your search rankings. Most of it is invisible until something fails at the worst moment. Maintenance is about catching those quietly, before they cost you.
How often should a website be updated?
Security patches should be applied as they're released; core, plugin and dependency updates monthly at minimum, tested before they go live. Backups should run continuously and be verified. We work on a fixed cadence - daily and weekly monitoring and backups, monthly updates and reporting, quarterly deeper reviews.
How much does website maintenance cost?
Our care plans are published and month-to-month: Essential from $100/month, Growth from $200/month, and Pro from $300/month, differing by update frequency, support time and depth of care. If you'd rather start with a one-time check, a Website Health Audit & Tune-up is $100. No quote wall, no lock-in.
Are your maintenance plans month-to-month or contract-based?
Month-to-month, with no long-term contract and no lock-in. You can cancel anytime and you keep everything - your site, hosting, domain and accounts are always yours. We'd rather earn your renewal each month than trap you in a contract.
Can you maintain a website you didn't build?
Yes, on any stack. We start with a one-time Website Health Audit & Tune-up (from $100) so we both know exactly what we're taking on - we won't blindly promise to keep a codebase healthy we've never seen. After the audit, you can roll onto a monthly care plan, or just keep the report and fixes.
Do you maintain WordPress, Shopify, Next.js and custom sites?
Yes - we're stack-agnostic. We maintain WordPress and Shopify sites, headless and custom CMS builds, and Next.js, React or fully custom sites alike. We're not a WordPress-only care shop. For stack-specific questions, we point you to the relevant technologies page.
What's in the monthly report?
A plain, readable summary: which updates we applied and what changed, security scan results, a confirmed and restorable backup, a performance and Core Web Vitals snapshot, and anything we spotted that needs attention with our recommendation. Maintenance is invisible by nature, so the report makes it visible.
What happens if my site goes down or gets hacked?
Uptime monitoring alerts us when a site goes down, and if the worst happens we can restore from a recent, verified backup and work to clean and secure the site. We describe our process honestly rather than promise a guaranteed downtime figure - what we commit to is responding within one business day and being straight with you about timelines.
How fast do you respond to support requests?
We respond within one business day, and you reach the senior person who actually does the work - not a ticket queue. Higher-tier plans get prioritized support. We keep this commitment honest and don't advertise an instant-response SLA we couldn't reliably keep as a small senior team.
Ready to hand off the upkeep?
Start a month-to-month care plan, or a one-time health audit if we didn't build it. No lock-in, no sales call - and you keep full ownership of your site and accounts.
